Two Storm Goretti sessile oaks pollarded and stood back up

Two mid aged sessile oaks (Quercus petraea, the Cornish oak) had been blown over by Storm Goretti. They had grown out of a long hedge bank with a small stream running down one side. Unlike many of the trees we sadly had to remove that winter, these two could be saved. We assessed them, pollarded both while they lay on their sides, and then used a series of heavy winches to right them. After a day of pruning the trees were set back upright. The root plates have since settled and new growth is already starting to sprout. They will need re-pollarding every ten years or so to stay stable.
