In Jordan’s words

My fascination with trees and the environment we live in really started when visiting an old family friend in Somerset as a teenager. He looked after a couple of large local woodlands with a plethora of different tree species. Many of them were non native and brought to our shores hundreds of years ago as seeds from far reaching parts of the earth. Looking up at these staggering cedars, monkey puzzles and sequoias ignited in me a now lifelong passion for trees and arboriculture.

I then spent my late teens at Bicton College, learning in depth about arboriculture and considering our impact on the environment and how trees form an integral part of our existence. After leaving Bicton I contracted to numerous tree surgery companies throughout Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, building a deeper understanding of arboriculture and what it takes to properly run a reliable, professional and ecologically minded tree care company.

In 2019 I decided it was time to start out on my own and created Falmouth Tree Services. I started out with a small pickup truck and a simple gravity fed wood chipper. Things progressed slowly at first but grew year after year, with many customers still having work carried out to this day.

Now in my mid thirties, I recently purchased Eco Active Arborists from Tom and Tim, two great arborists who left a brilliant legacy of professionalism and quality. Merging Eco Active Arborists and TR Trees brings us to the present day, with continued growth and looking to the future with excitement.

How we work

  1. 01

Look first, and try to keep the tree

We come and look before quoting, and the first question is always whether the tree can be kept. A reduction is often a better way of lowering the risk than a removal, and we say so. The free tree health check exists for exactly this.

  2. 02

    Modern practice, proper kit

Pruning to British Standard 3998, sectional dismantling with rigging where it is needed, and since 2022 our own cranes, an 18 tonne lorry with a loader crane, a digger with a timber grab and a 9 inch chipper. Where a crane can be used, time on site normally drops by around three quarters.

  3. 03

    Ecologically sympathetic

Vegetation work in the dormant months, ecologists brought in where a site needs one, habitat piles and standing dead wood offered instead of a bare site, and replanting suggested after every removal. Timber goes to firewood, with a discount for the customer it came from.
